You know someone is passionate about their work when they voluntarily miss Sunday Football to help out in the office. For Stephanie Cote, CVT, VTS (Anesthesia), her ‘office’ is the Luke and Lily Lerner Clinic, where she is the highly regarded Lerner Clinic Supervisor.
As the anesthesia specialty technician running our spay/neuter clinic, Stephanie expertly guides veterinary students through their very first experience with anesthesia and surgery. With good humor, she creates a positive and nurturing environment for nervous students. Under her leadership, the clinic maintains a positive, fun atmosphere, while getting the job done.
Stephanie truly goes the extra mile, and it is not uncommon for her to wake up at 5am to pick up patients from community partners. She is believed to be the only anesthesia specialty technician working in the spay/neuter field in the country, and, as Dr. Emily McCobb puts it “we are lucky to have her.”
The Lerner Clinic provides an essential service to the community, the students, and their patients. By offering low cost spay/neuters to the community, while giving students invaluable experiential learning, and improving the health of their patients, the clinic is a win-win-win. For Stephanie’s leadership and dedication to this cause, we salute her!
