Emily Haines, MCM’18

Emily Haines, MCM’18, “I graduated from Colgate University with a BA in Classical Studies. I took full advantage of the liberal arts education, however, and also took the pre-requisite courses for veterinary school, as I hope to pursue a DVM after completing the MCM program. I’ve loved animals for my entire life, but I became especially fond of wildlife in particular after completing an internship at the New England Wildlife Center. This internship inspired not only a deep love of our wild friends, but also a greater sense of responsibility for the environment. I hope to gain a broader perspective of conservation issues beyond wildlife rehabilitation through this program. In the future, I would love to tackle wildlife conservation issues from a veterinary perspective, and hopefully do some work in my mother’s native country of India. I have also enjoyed working with cows, goats, and horses, which are plentiful in upstate New York (where Colgate is located). When not tending to my garrulous, narcissistic cat Winifred (whom I adore), I like to read, figure skate, and pretend I’m a sommelier”
