Kristen Bishop, MCM’19

Meet Kristen Bishop, MCM’19, “My name is Kristen Bishop, and this past May I graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Animal Science and a minor in Wildlife Conservation.  While at school, I spent my time swimming on the varsity swim team and working at Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research. Before I started there, I was dead set on becoming a veterinarian and working at a zoo with large mammals. However, it was at Tri-State that I fell in love with birds, especially raptors and shorebirds. From being an intern to being a seasonal clinic supervisor, I was privileged enough to see many aspects of avian medicine, rehabilitation, and conservation, and it was then that I knew I wanted to continue my passion and dedicate my life to conserving the many bird species that we may lose in the coming years. Although I have not completely put vet school out of my mind, I also know that there are many other ways that I can contribute to conservation, especially with everything I’ll learn from the MCM program. In my spare time, I enjoy binging shows on Netflix, cheering for the Pittsburgh Penguins, and cuddling with my cat Twister.”
