Arial Wei, MCM’20

My name is Haomiao Wei /How-meow Way/, or Arial from Chengdu, China.  I just obtained my BS in Microbiology this spring from Colorado State University.  Through my undergraduate study, I learned how different pathogens such as viruses and bacteria cause diseases in humans and animals on an individual level.  Besides the micro world, I am eager to learn how to monitor and manage diseases at a broader scale and what role the environment plays in disease transmission, which is essential in order to apply the One Health approach in wildlife conservation field.  This is also why I am drawn to MCM program.  In my free time, I enjoy watching anime, working out, listening to music, and anything new that worth trying.  I have an Aussie-cocker mix and her name is Pudding.  Having been to lots of places with various economic and social development status, I witnessed a huge contrast in both domestic and wild animal treatments among different countries.  My future goal is simple, I am hoping to get my DVM one day and help animals in the world that are less fortunate.
