My name is Jet Lewis and I grew up in Southern California. I graduated with a B.S in Environmental Biology with a minor in Applied Statistics from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in May 2018. I currently work as a Veterinary Technician at Somerville Veterinary Center in Medford, MA. Before entering the MCM program I worked as a Wildlife Rehabilitation/Veterinary Technician apprentice at Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, Inc. located in Kendalia, TX. Here, I cared for over 100 different species of wildlife including: songbirds, raptors, reptiles, and various native Texas mammals. The interdisciplinary nature of the MCM degree is what drew me to the program, as the One Health approach provides many perspectives to solve increasingly complex world issues. I’m interested in the intersection between indigenous traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) and endangered species conservation policy/land use management. I hope this program will open opportunities for me to continue working in the vet med industry with wildlife, while combining my passion for field work and improvement of human-animal relationships. In my free time I enjoy bouldering, hiking, and cuddling with my three-legged cat – Bob.
