Cummings School alumni and faculty members team up to help a monkey victim of the illegal pet trade

The young spider monkey was no more than a year old when her mother was killed. Poachers in Belize had shot her so they could sell the young monkey as a pet. The shotgun blast knocked the small monkey clear of the tree where she was being cradled by her mother—shattering her right arm, dislocating her tail, and peppering her body with shot pellets.

Molly, an 11 ½-year-old female Golden Retriever was referred to Foster Hospital for Small Animals at Cummings Veterinary Medical Center for the treatment of an anal sac mass discovered on a routine physical examination. A complete diagnostic workup was completed for this type of cancer to confirm the diagnosis. Bailey

Bailey, a 12 ½-year old golden retriever from Dover, Mass., had his owners worried when he developed a lump in his chest that grew from the size of a baseball to something more like a volleyball, at a weight of more than 6 pounds. The mass scraped the ground, preventing Bailey from walking. But thanks to successful surgery by Dr. John Berg and the staff at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University, he is leading an active life again.
