Treating Buster’s Demodicosis and Making Changes Along the Way

Buster, a two-year-old castrated male Staffordshire bull terrier mix, presented to Foster Hospital for Small Animals at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine with a five-month history of generalized demodicosis with secondary bacterial folliculitis and a progressive worsening of his skin condition. While Buster’s treatment regimen was consistent with standard treatment protocols, it didn’t appear to be benefiting him. Buster had developed alopecia and was appearing more lethargic as well.
